GTA 6 Side Activities and Minigames: Everything Confirmed
Every GTA 6 side activity confirmed before the Nov 19 launch: basketball, minigolf, gym, fishing, hunting, scuba, racing, fighting, plus what's still rumored.

GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, three weeks from today. Rockstar has already shown a big chunk of what Jason and Lucia can do between story missions. Officially shown: basketball, minigolf, kayaking, scuba diving, jet skis, airboats, shooting ranges, backyard wrestling, cage fighting, street and off-road racing, parachuting, strip clubs and TV. Widely reported from previews: gym workouts, pool, fishing and hunting, with surprisingly deep mechanics.
Rockstar has not published a full activity list. Seeing something in a trailer also doesn't guarantee it will be playable on day one.
Where this information comes from
Most of the detail comes from the Extended Look and press previews in August 2026. TGG visited Rockstar North and watched head of development Rob Nelson play for about two and a half hours. A Game Informer interview added more activities on top of that.
TGG's verdict is that GTA 6 has more side activities than GTA 5, and that the range feels closer to San Andreas than to GTA 5. One roundup counts more than 30 activities, sports and minigames across official trailers and previews. That number comes from a single source, so treat it as a rough count.

Sports and games
Basketball
Rockstar confirmed basketball, and making shots boosts the focus stat. According to previews, you aim at the rim and time the release with R2. One source says the shot physics account for your distance from the rim and your stance, rather than San Andreas-style timing windows. This is basketball's first return since San Andreas, per one preview.
Courts are spread around Leonida. Reportedly you can use them at any time with no loading screen or menu, and there's a half-court right outside Jason's home.
Minigolf
Minigolf is an official side activity, and Rockstar screenshots show Cal Hampton putting. One preview says there are courses across Leonida, and that minigolf (along with kayaking) is new to the series.
Pool
Pool returns, according to seven separate sources. One preview describes the controls in detail: the left stick aims, a pull-back-and-snap motion sets power, and you add spin by striking the top or bottom of the cue ball. Games are mostly 8-ball, and you can bet against NPC opponents. Bars reportedly have pool tables and other tabletop games. Pool has been a proper minigame since GTA 4.
Tennis and golf: not confirmed
Three sources report tennis courts in the game, but none confirms tennis is playable. Promotional images show the courts next to basketball courts. One roundup lists tennis as an activity anyway. The three-source report is the stronger one, so for now tennis is unconfirmed.
Golf is in the same spot. Courses are visible on the map, but nobody has shown full golf.
Gym, fitness and the stat system
The workout system is San Andreas with more layers. Footage shows Jason lifting on the beach and Lucia bench-pressing in a commercial gym. One preview also mentions Lucia on a punching bag.
How it works, according to people who saw it played:
- Membership first. You walk to the front desk and buy a membership before you can touch the equipment.
- Changing clothes. One source says gyms have locker rooms where you change into workout gear. Another creator who visited Rockstar only says changing may be possible, so this detail is less certain.
- Controls. L2 and R2 raise and lower the weights.
- Daily cap. Two sources say three exercises in one session completes your workout for the day.
- What it improves. Strength work raises health, and cardio raises stamina. One source says strength training specifically raises maximum health. Cardio can come from treadmills and bikes, or from running and cycling in the open world.
- Boosters. Gym vending machines sell energy drinks and protein shakes that briefly boost stamina during workouts, according to three sources.
- Partner workouts. If Lucia is with you, she trains at the same time and improves her own stats, so a date can double as a workout.
The exercise lists differ between sources. One names bench press, squats and deadlifts as the three weight exercises. Another lists lat pulldowns, bench press, treadmills, punching bags and squats. Expect the bench press and squats either way.
Body changes, sleep and diet
If you overeat, Jason and Lucia gain weight, although it reportedly takes a lot to make a visible difference. Muscle fades gradually if you stop training.
GTA 6 also tracks how rested the protagonists are. Two sources describe a phone fitness app that logs sleep. Poor rest lowers health and stamina, and probably focus. Skipping sleep slows attribute regeneration and leaves visible bags under their eyes after a few days.
Outdoors: fishing, hunting and wildlife
Rockstar's official site says Mount Kalaga National Park offers hunting, fishing and off-road trails. Official screenshots show Jason fishing from a boat with Cal.
Fishing
Two sources say fishing is fully playable and close to Red Dead Redemption 2 in detail. Fish reportedly react to weather, the type of water and your bait. One preview says fishing ties into story content, collectibles and challenges, and can also be done just for fun.
Can you sell fish? One preview said it was unclear whether fishing earns money. Another reports Rob Nelson saying it's catch-and-release sport fishing, with no keeping, cooking or selling fish. A quote from Rockstar's own studio head is the stronger source. Plan on fishing as a hobby and completion task, not a money-maker, but keep in mind this comes from one report rather than an official Rockstar statement.
Hunting
Hunting is where the money is. Two sources say it pays and is unlocked through someone Jason knows. One preview says bringing back pelts, skins or meat appears to earn cash. Promotional material reportedly calls Mount Kalaga a prime hunting spot. What you can hunt and how selling works is still unclear.
Studying animals
You can reportedly pet, scold or study dogs. The study option seems tied to a collection system like RDR2's. One source describes a full creature catalogue to complete, with some kind of payoff. You can also feed stray animals.
On the water
Leonida's coast, the Keys and the wetlands get plenty of attention.
- Kayaking: Officially confirmed. Screenshots show kayaking on open water and in Mount Kalaga. One preview says you can paddle along rivers and canals.
- Scuba diving: Officially confirmed. An oxygen meter appears on the HUD while you dive. One preview says you can explore reefs and wrecks.
- Swimming: The stamina meter switches to a lung capacity gauge when you're underwater.
- Jet skis: Trailer footage shows Jason driving one with Lucia riding behind. One preview mentions free-roam riding along Vice City's coast and organised jet ski derbies on the beaches.
- Airboats: Trailer footage shows them in the Grassrivers wetlands, which are based on the Florida Everglades.
- Boat meets: One source reports social watercraft gatherings.
Water racing hasn't been confirmed.
Racing
The Extended Look showed street racing, off-road racing and motorcycle racing. Two sources also mention circuit races.
- Street races have usable nitrous. One preview compares some races to Midnight Club.
- Off-road races near Mount Kalaga mix motorcycles and cars in the same field. Official screenshots show dirt bike racing in the park.
- The first trailer includes burnouts and drifting. One roundup also reports car meets and bike meets.
Fighting and shooting
The Extended Look showed backyard wrestling and Lucia fighting in a cage. Jason takes part in a wrestling bout, but the mechanics haven't been explained. Two sources say MMA-style fighting is playable. One preview mentions grappling and pro-wrestling moves. It's still unclear whether these are separate activities and whether fighting affects your stats. Cage fighting first appeared as a minigame in The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Outdoor shooting ranges are official, and you walk around them on foot. The Extended Look showed a tactical course where you move between positions, and Lucia is shown at a range.
Nightlife and downtime
- Strip clubs return as interactable venues. One preview describes Jason tipping a dancer with dollar bills. A side character, Boobie Ike, reportedly owns a strip club and a recording studio.
- Clubs and bars: Official footage shows drinking, dancing and drinking games in nightclubs and strip clubs.
- TV: Footage shows Jason watching parody ads for an antidepressant and a fast-food chain. In the second trailer he's on the sofa with PlayStation controllers on the coffee table. One source says you can play video games in-game. Which games, if any, is pure speculation for now.
- Phone: There's a phone with social media feeds, and you can reportedly doomscroll them.
- Small stuff: E-scooters appear in footage. You can also reportedly spy on neighbours and NPCs with binoculars.
Crime on your own time
Convenience store and small business robberies are playable. The trailers show both protagonists robbing stores, and Jason beating a store owner and emptying the till. Bank heists are confirmed, at least in story missions.
How activities affect your character
Previews describe activities as more than distractions:
- Stats: Basketball raises Focus. The gym raises health and stamina. More generally, activities can improve stats and change how Jason and Lucia look.
- Relationship: One source says doing activities together improves Jason and Lucia's relationship.
- Completion: Side activities aren't needed for the story and can be played at any time, including after the credits. They do count toward 100% completion. Rob Nelson has reportedly said the campaign alone could run past 80 hours.
Ultimate Edition extras
- Wyman's Classic Car Collection: Two sources say you collect vehicle parts around the map and deliver them to Wyman to build drivable cars. One source ties this to the Ultimate Edition commission. Rockstar advertises a Classic Car Collection in the Ultimate Edition, but it's unclear whether that's the same thing as the car-building activity.
- Crest Kayak: One source says Ultimate Edition owners get a kayak at Jason's home from day one.
- Shops: The edition includes Sara's Unisex Salon, the Electric Fang Tattoo parlour and One-Eyed Willie's for mods and paint.
Gambling: the murky one
One roundup lists gambling among the activities shown. Pool reportedly lets you bet against NPCs, and the first trailer shows a lottery sign in a gas station. A rumor says gambling and lottery features could be cut because of regional regulations. A full casino at launch is only speculation.
Confirmed vs. rumored
Confirmed by Rockstar (trailers, screenshots, official site): basketball, minigolf, kayaking, scuba diving, jet skis, airboats, racing, wrestling and cage fighting, shooting ranges, parachuting, strip clubs, TV, store robberies, and a zoo with no gameplay shown yet.
Reported from previews (several sources): gym workouts, pool, fishing, hunting, sleep tracking and racing types.
Rumors from leaks or single sources:
- A home gym for Jason at his Leonida Keys safehouse
- A playable pool table in The Delights strip club in Port Gellhorn
- Dice as an open-world activity, from the 2022 leaks
- Hold-ups at diners like Hank's Waffles
- Money laundering through a car wash
- Hair and beard growth
- Lucia having a boxing background
Speculation only (don't count on it):
- Surfing and beach volleyball
- Amusement park rides
- Taxi, vigilante, firefighter and paramedic jobs
- A real estate empire
- Drug smuggling runs
- Golf or shooting ranges boosting Focus
- Community service as playable content. The trailers do show convicts collecting roadside trash and Lucia wearing an ankle monitor, but that's all.
Still unknown
Scoring, rewards and exact locations for several activities haven't been fully detailed. We don't know if there are dedicated parachuting challenges or what you can hunt. Hidden collectibles exist, but their form hasn't been revealed. The full list will only be clear once the game is out on November 19.
