GTA 6 Leonida Map Regions Explained: All Six Areas
GTA 6's Leonida map has six regions: Vice City, the Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Here's what each one is and where it sits.
The short answer
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional version of Florida. Rockstar's official website splits the state into six highlighted regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Rockstar describes the world as seamless, with no loading screens anywhere in the state.
The game launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Below you'll find what each region is, where it sits, and how much of that comes from Rockstar versus fan mapping and rumors.

Vice City
Vice City sits on Leonida's eastern coastline and is set in the mid-2020s. Rockstar pitches it as still being the sun and fun capital of America, 40 years after the 1980s. Rockstar's description includes South Beach-style Art Deco, Brickell-style downtown high-rises, a large seaport and an international airport. Rockstar calls VC Port “the cruise ship capital of the world”.
This is not a remaster of the 2002 game's city. It belongs to Rockstar's current HD Universe. On size, Rob Nelson reportedly said Vice City alone is twice the size of Los Santos. That quote is relayed by several outlets, but Rockstar has not put it in an official spec sheet.
Officially named spots
- Ocean Beach: Art Deco hotels and pastel architecture, with Ocean Drive, the Ocean View Hotel and the Dominion Hotel.
- Little Cuba: a neighborhood based on Little Havana, known for its panaderías.
- Saharah Arena: a downtown arena that hosts the city's basketball franchise. One source names the team the Vice City Narcos.
- Tisha-Wocka Flea Market: the place for bootleg merchandise.
- Jack of Hearts: Boobie Ike's strip club, part of an operation that also includes a recording studio.
- Southside: home to the PTT Youngin$ illegal goods compound.
Districts from community mapping (reported, single sources)
- Downtown: a financial core with glass towers, inspired by Brickell.
- La Perle / Little Haiti: a Haitian-themed neighborhood with street murals.
- Stockyard: a Wynwood-style arts district with converted industrial buildings.
- Vice Beach: a barrier island connected by causeway.
- Venetian Islands: an island area identified by its tennis court.
- Rockridge: a district near Little Haiti and Crosstown.
- Vice City International Airport: based on Miami International, with a working tram connection.
Leonida Keys
The Keys are a tropical island chain linked to the mainland by the Overseas Highway. They sit at the southern tip of the map and serve as the starting area. Rockstar says the Keys have some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in America.
The Keys have two bridges side by side, one active and one abandoned, both modeled on the Seven Mile Bridge. A tethered radar blimp hangs over the islands to watch for low-flying aircraft and boats. Expect that blimp to matter if you're running anything by air or sea.
Why the Keys matter to the story
The Keys are Jason Duval's home base. After leaving the Army, he works for local drug runners. He also lives rent-free on property owned by Brian Heder. Brian is a veteran boatyard operator and smuggler, and he runs Brian's Boat Works & Marina with his third wife, Lori. Jason's friend Cal Hampton, a paranoid conspiracy theorist, monitors coast guard communications in the Keys.
Reported locations
One source places Jason's starting residence on Key Linto in Mariana County. Locations reported by single sources include:
- The Rusty Anchor dive bar
- A gator-themed mini golf course and the Wonder Whale gift shop
- Fisherman's Cove and a military air station
- The Vercetti Estate, One-Eyed Willie's, Electric Fang Tattoo and Stock 305
The rumors don't agree on names. The air station shows up as “Airward Key” in one rumor and as “Goose Key” in another. Both say it's modeled on Boca Chica. Another rumor spells Jason's island “Key Lento”. “Key Linto” comes from a reported source rather than a rumor, so it's the slightly stronger version. Neither spelling is confirmed by Rockstar.
Grassrivers
Grassrivers is a large wetland inspired by the Everglades. Rockstar calls it the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown. Confirmed wildlife includes alligators, herons, nutria, flamingos, boars and deer.
Activities and factions
- Airboats and freshwater fishing are confirmed activities.
- The Gladesmen are a local faction that runs airboat fleets and hunts alligators.
- The Thrillbilly Mud Club is an off-road park with ATVs, swamp buggies and monster trucks.
Rockstar also teases deadlier predators than alligators and strange discoveries hidden in the mangroves. Hunting across the state has oversight: an animal control agency called POACH (Protection of Animals and Controlled Hunting) operates in Leonida.
Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is an industrial coastal region with motels, strip malls and a working port. Rockstar calls it Leonida's “forgotten coast,” with the tagline “Live Hard”. It's a declining former tourist resort town. Rockstar sums up its economy as malt liquor, painkillers, truck stop energy drinks and dirt bikes.
Rockstar also uses the “forgotten coast” label for Kelly County, which it describes as rural Leonida with cheap motels and shuttered attractions. One county breakdown places Port Gellhorn inside Kelly County.
Reported details
Several sources say the town is inspired by Panama City Beach. Single sources report:
- A container port that serves as a hub for smuggling
- The Gellhorn International Raceway, with a road course and drag strip
- Lucia wearing a Gellhorn International Raceway shirt
Ambrosia
Ambrosia is Leonida's inland sugar heartland, built around the Allied Crystal Sugar refinery. Its tagline is “Keeping Leonida Sweet”.
Politics, bikers and burning fields
Allied Crystal is a major sugarcane corporation with deep political influence. Mayoral candidate Erin Henshaw campaigns in Ambrosia with Allied Crystal's backing. The sugarcane fields are burned before harvest. Ambrosia is also home to the Final Chapter MC, a biker gang whose patches say it was founded in 1982.
Inspiration and the lake
One source ties Ambrosia to Belle Glade and Clewiston. Another describes it more loosely as Central Florida. Belle Glade and Clewiston are the more specific match, but both come from single sources.
One report describes a large central lake in the region. Another names it Lake Leonida: a huge body of water modeled on Lake Okeechobee, ringed by flood dikes and locks. Rockstar hasn't named the lake on its official region list.
Mount Kalaga
Mount Kalaga National Park is a mountainous wilderness on Leonida's northern edge. Rockstar says it's populated by hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals who live away from government oversight.
Confirmed activities are hunting, fishing and off-road trail riding. Wildlife includes cougars, deer, squirrels, foxes and raccoons.
Reported inspirations are North Florida and Providence Canyon in Georgia. One source describes red rock canyon walls, dense pine forests and waterways. That same source spells the region “Mount Calaga”. The official name is Kalaga.
Leonida's counties (reported)
Under the six regions, one community breakdown says five counties are confirmed from trailers, screenshots and road signs:

Of these, only Kelly County appears in Rockstar's own copy. A separate rumor spells the south-west county “Marianna” and mentions a Marianna County Sheriff's Office.
My read: the geography is clearly compressed. A Panhandle-inspired town sitting in a county modeled on southwest Florida shows Rockstar is remixing Florida rather than tracing it.
How big is Leonida?
Rockstar hasn't published a size in square kilometers. It only calls Leonida its biggest open world so far. Art director Aaron Garbut reportedly said the map is roughly twice the size of GTA 5's. GTA 5's map is estimated at 75–80 km². Community estimates of about 125 km² of land are guesses, not data.
Size isn't only about land area. Multiple sources report more than 700 enterable interiors.
Beyond the six regions
It's unconfirmed whether Leonida has regions beyond the six Rockstar has named. Community maps label interior areas such as Waning Sands and Lake Leonida. They also show an area called Capri south of Port Gellhorn.
Gloriana
Gloriana license plates are visible on cars in official trailers. One source places Gloriana north of Leonida and describes it as loosely based on Georgia. The domain visitgloriana.com was reportedly transferred to the registrar that manages Rockstar and Take-Two domains.
A Gloriana Key island is reported on the map itself. There is no confirmation that you can travel into the wider state of Gloriana. Treat a playable second state as a rumor.
Other rumors
- A third port called Mellaport on the northeastern coast
- Up to three offshore islands inspired by Cuba and the Bahamas
What's still unknown with three weeks to go
Rockstar hasn't released a complete official map. It also hasn't confirmed the full road network or exact regional boundaries.
Fan maps are estimates, not Rockstar products. The biggest one, map.stateofleonida.net, listed over 1,600 points of interest at version 13 in late June 2026.
It's also unconfirmed how much of the map is open from the start and how much is locked behind story progress. Two rumors touch on this:
- The whole map opens once the prologue is done.
- A fog of war hides areas you haven't visited yet.
Those two rumors can both be true: everything open, just hidden until you explore it. One source also reports that the story won't take you to every area of the map. If that's right, exploring on your own will be the only way to see all of Leonida.
