GTA 6 PC Release Date: What Rockstar and Take-Two Have Said
GTA 6 isn't coming to PC on November 19. Here's everything Take-Two and Rockstar have said about a PC version, the 2027 rumors, and Rockstar's past PC gaps.

The short answer
GTA 6 has no PC release date. The game launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed in a Bloomberg interview published May 5, 2026 that GTA 6 will not launch on PC. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed a PC release date.
The most widely repeated rumor points to the first quarter of 2027. That is a rumor, not an announcement, and Rockstar's own history points to a longer wait.
What Take-Two and Rockstar have said on record
No PC version on day one
- Zelnick's May 2026 Bloomberg comments are the clearest statement on the subject: GTA 6 will not launch on PC.
- GTA 6 has only been announced for consoles so far.
- There is no streaming workaround either. Xbox has said GTA 6 will not be playable on PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Console first, by design
Zelnick said Rockstar always starts its releases on console, because the core audience must be served first and best. He also said Rockstar has a platform approach people have seen before, and that more platform announcements will come in due time.
PC is still part of the plan
Nothing Take-Two has said rules out a PC version later. The company's comments lean the other way:
- Zelnick said Take-Two's hit titles usually come to all platforms over time.
- He described the strategy as reaching consumers wherever they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.
- At the September 17 shareholder meeting, he said Take-Two publishes for every platform with a significant audience and that PC is becoming more important, though he was speaking about general strategy rather than GTA 6 specifically.
- He has acknowledged that players are moving toward PC in growing numbers.
- According to one report, he said a PC release after consoles opens a second sales cycle for players who might buy the game twice.
Our read: taken together, this is a clear 'not yet' rather than a 'never'.
How much PC matters to Take-Two
Zelnick has put numbers on PC's share of sales, and they differ slightly depending on the interview. In a Bloomberg interview he said PC can account for 45-50% of sales for a major title. In an IGN interview he put a multiplatform title's PC share at about 40%. The Bloomberg figure is backed by more outlets, but both versions say the same thing in practice: PC is a big slice of a major release's sales. For scale, Steam alone reportedly had roughly 132 to 135 million monthly active users.
Rockstar's console-to-PC track record
Rockstar has a long habit of putting its big games on PC after consoles, not on day one.
| Game | Gap between console and PC release | Source strength |
|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | About 8 months | Reported (single source) |
| GTA V | 18 months | Official |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | About one year | Official |
Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 also reached PC well after their console debuts.
Rockstar has used that lead time to ship technically improved PC editions, with Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC offering enhanced visuals. The RDR2 PC version also launched with a one-month Epic Games Store exclusivity deal. And GTA V's PC version, backed by its modding community, kept the game active into the early 2020s.
What those gaps would mean for GTA 6
This is simple arithmetic, not a prediction. Counting from November 19, 2026:
- A GTA IV-length gap (about 8 months) lands around July 2027.
- An RDR2-length gap (about a year) lands around November 2027.
- A GTA V-length gap (18 months) lands around May 2028.
Other big games have launched on PC and console at the same time, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate III, and Square Enix has said it will try to release games on PC on day one. GTA 6 is not following that model.
The 2027 PC rumors
First quarter of 2027
The Q1 2027 date has been repeated by several outlets, which is why it shows up in almost every search result. Repetition is not confirmation, though. GamesBeat, one of the outlets covering it, assessed that the claim rests on a single report with no documents, no date more precise than the quarter, and no information on storefronts, price or system requirements. Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat's request for comment.
February 2027 and the fiscal-year angle
In April, the leaker DetectiveSeeds wrote on X that three former Rockstar employees, out of 90 contacted, pointed to February 2027 for a PC release. Three people out of 90 is a thin basis for a date.
Three former Rockstar employees also reportedly claimed that Take-Two and Rockstar wanted GTA 6 out before the end of the fiscal year, meaning before April 2027. Take-Two's fiscal year ends in March 2027. Since the console version already ships in November 2026, people have read this as a PC target, but that is an interpretation of a single-source rumor.
Analysis: a Q1 2027 PC release would mean a gap of roughly two to four months, much shorter than any Rockstar precedent in the table above.
Don't expect Schreier to settle it
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier said on Reddit that his upcoming report is not about the rumored 2027 PC release date. He said the report focuses on Rockstar's studio culture, development history and why GTA VI took so long.
Old claims you can ignore
Some PC dates still circulating were made before GTA 6's current console date existed.
- Corsair's VP of Finance and IR, Ronald van Veen, said on the company's Q4 2024 earnings call that GTA 6 was expected on PC in early 2026. At that point Take-Two was still targeting fall 2025 for consoles.
- Corsair CEO Andrew Paul once suggested a shorter console-to-PC gap for GTA 6, then walked it back and called it speculation.
The console date then moved. In May 2025 Rockstar delayed GTA 6 from fall 2025 to May 2026, and a November 2025 update set the current date of November 19, 2026. Take-Two reaffirmed that date in its Q4 2026 earnings report. Any PC date pinned to the old schedule is dead. Also keep in mind Corsair makes PC hardware; it doesn't publish GTA.

Where a PC announcement will come from
Rockstar Newswire and Take-Two's quarterly reports are the official channels that would confirm or deny a PC release. Zelnick has said future GTA 6 information will come directly from Rockstar Games. Until one of those channels names a date, treat every PC release date you see as a guess.
