GTA 6 launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn't announced an exact unlock hour, but the PlayStation Store and Xbox store listings show one for every region: the game unlocks at midnight local time in each store region. That makes it a rolling release that starts in New Zealand and ends in Mexico, about 19 hours later.
GTA 6 release time: the short answer
- Europe (Spain, France, Germany, Italy and most of the EU): midnight on Thursday, November 19
- UK, Ireland and Portugal: midnight on Thursday, November 19
- United States: midnight Eastern on November 19, which is 9pm Pacific on Wednesday, November 18
- Australia: midnight in Sydney and Melbourne, 9pm on Wednesday in Perth
- Japan and South Korea: midnight on Thursday
If you only remember one thing: in most of the world you can start playing the moment the clock hits midnight on November 19. In the Americas, check the table below, because a single store time covers several time zones.

A few local quirks: in Spain's Canary Islands the game unlocks at 11pm on Wednesday, and in Mexico it's 1am in Cancún and 10pm the night before in Tijuana.
What time does GTA 6 unlock in the US?
According to the listings, the US store uses a single moment for the whole country: midnight Eastern Time, 05:00 UTC on November 19. That works out to:

So West Coast players get a head start on Wednesday evening. Canada follows the same moment, which means 9pm on Wednesday in Vancouver. One source also lists separate midnights for each US time zone, so treat the exact US hour as the least certain part of this guide until launch week.
Is it the same on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes, as far as the listings go. Both stores show the same unlock times in every region that has been checked. The one caveat is that neither Microsoft nor Rockstar has confirmed the Xbox times in an announcement, so they rely on the store data alone.
Does it depend on where I live or on my account?
On your account. The unlock follows the region of your PlayStation or Xbox store account, not your physical location. If you bought the game on a US account while living in Europe, it unlocks at the US time.
A single, simultaneous worldwide unlock has been rumored, but Rockstar hasn't announced anything like that.
Preload first, so you can play at midnight
Rockstar confirmed that digital pre-orders can preload from November 12, a full week before launch.
