GTA 6 Launch Trailer Breakdown: Every Detail You Missed

Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026, with no countdown or warning. It's only 90 seconds long, but it's packed: Jason's army past, a call from Lucia in prison, a cargo-plane escape, a bank vault and a brand-new song from Justice. We went through the trailer and nine breakdowns from the biggest GTA channels to pull out everything that matters.

The trailer ends on the release date, November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and notes that the footage was captured on PS5.

The story: Jason's past and Lucia in prison

The trailer is built around Jason telling his own story. He says he got into trouble in the army and didn't leave on good terms, and that he can't get a loan from anyone because of it. It's the clearest explanation so far of why a former soldier ends up in crime.

Halfway through, Jason takes a phone call from Lucia while she's in prison. Several breakdowns also spotted Lucia wearing an ankle monitor in another scene.

Jason is shown working at Brian's Marina, polishing a boat. If you want a refresher on who Brian and the rest of the cast are, see our supporting characters guide.

Jason's army flashback

The most surprising footage is military. Jason wades through a swamp at night wearing night vision goggles, camouflage and body armour, and climbs out of a helicopter to pet a dog wearing flight goggles. In another shot he wears a T-shirt for the U.S. Army Marauder Combat Training School at North Fort Law.

Rockstar hasn't said how these scenes fit in. Some creators think they could be a playable flashback missionSpeculation2. TGG — GTA 6 Launch Trailer: Everything New YOU MISSED5. Glooby — 100+ Details You Missed in the GTA 6 Launch Trailer, but that's a guess for now.

The action: heists, helicopters and a cargo plane

The second half of the trailer is almost all set pieces. Every big breakdown picked out the same moments:

• Lucia jumps onto a taxiing cargo plane to escape the police
• Lucia walks into a bank vault with a duffel bag and a female accomplice
• Lucia fires a grenade launcher from a helicopter at police vehicles fitted with mounted guns
• A helicopter explodes over a skyscraper rooftop while Jason stands with a rifle
• A firefight alongside allies dressed in construction safety vests
• Jason and Lucia dive off a balcony into a lit swimming pool
• Jason jumps a dirt bike over the tracks near the Vice City Metro

There's also an uncomfortable moment with Raul Bautista, who pins a man to the ground by the throat while eating fried chicken in front of Jason and Lucia. For how robberies are expected to work, see our heists guide.

Places, cars and small details

• The Keys: highway signs point to Catalan Key and Goose Key, and there's a roadside bar called The Rusty Anchor. Our map regions guide covers the Keys.
• Wildlife: a reptile that looks like a Komodo dragon appears in the wetlands. See every animal confirmed so far in our wildlife guide.
• Vehicles: a Karin Elegy Retro Custom on Vice City streets, and a Vapid pickup towing a Seashark jet ski. Full list in our cars and vehicles guide.
• Parody: a stunt biplane advertises a cryptocurrency called Daciti Coin by Audacity, exactly the kind of joke you'd expect from GTA.

The music: Justice and "Flower in a Hurricane"

Alongside the trailer, Rockstar announced that French electronic duo Justice is composing GTA 6's original score. The trailer song is "Flower in a Hurricane", a new Justice single featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It's also on GTA VI: The Album, released with Atlantic Records alongside the game, and Rockstar says a score album is on the way too. More in our radio stations and soundtrack guide.

What the creators are speculating about

A shot of Jason and Lucia sitting on a sports car has three channels wondering whether it's a flashback to Liberty CitySpeculation2. TGG — GTA 6 Launch Trailer: Everything New YOU MISSED6.
